Was Awesome...
We had our 2nd annual Bloomington Tennis Fundraiser last Saturday on September 15th.
We had our 2nd annual Bloomington Tennis Fundraiser last Saturday on September 15th.
The morning started with an adult doubles tournament where we paired up each entry with a jr or pro from the club and played a round robin. It was a blast! In the afternoon the Country Club kept the pool open for an extra weekend just for us to throw our own private party. Thank you to everyone who participated and who came to show your support for our amazing little tennis club. Our Raffle was a big success!
Some of the prizes we gave away were an Ipad and Kindle...
Tuachan Tickets, Golf Passes and SIGNED Sam Querrey Tennis Racket...
There were also donations from local St. George businesses and restaurants and even NEON TREES...
Your donations are greatly needed and appreciated to help keep our club looking nice and to support the junior tennis program. With the money we received we were able to get new wind screens for the courts that were desperately needed (because we all know about St. George wind), and put some money into a scholarship program for kids who may not otherwise be able to afford lessons.
We want to give a special shout out to Steve Adams who came out to the party and played live music while we swam. For the record, he sounds just like John Denver. It was incredible!
We also had a bake sale, put on by the Sherman's.
Oh my YUMMY!
and of course the pool was all ours. Here are a few more pics of the kid's having fun...
and the beautiful Abbey Hancock...
She pretty much runs the show :)
Carl and Clark were running the high school tennis tournament, so I didn't get any pictures of them, but I want to thank them for all that they do. I also want to give a special thanks to Heather Costa, Mary Eames, and Sue and Phil Sherman who were also on the committee and worked so hard to put this show on. And of course the Bloomington Country Club for allowing us to use the pool and for providing such a delicious lunch from the grill!
If you missed the party don't be sad. You will have many more opportunities to support the tennis program and have tons of fun while doing it.
This is how...
The Club still needs a lot of work and upkeep. We need to fill cracks, paint, and resurface the courts. We would like to put new covered benches on the courts to give our players relief from the blazing sun. We would like to provide better viewing areas for our spectators, and do some updating around the club house. We would like to be able to keep putting money into our scholarship program. We just don't have the funding to do all of this on our own.
SO we will be holding small, monthly events. Sometimes for the kids sometimes for the adults. They are going to be lot's of fun! By participating in these events you will be helping us, while improving your tennis skills. Watch for flyers and emails on the events at the first of each month and then participate. That's all you have to do :)
I hope you enjoyed reading about the fundraiser. Stay tuned for more cool stuff including Giveaways on the BCC tennis blog.
